John was born and raised in Monroe. He has been in this area
for most of his life. He spent much of his youth around
Monroe Boat Club and was a 10 year member in the 70's. He
rejoined the club in 2001.
John's father Howard was Commodore in 1960 and 1970. His
uncle Fred was Commodore in 1955 and 1956.
He graduated from Monroe High School in 1964. He enlisted in
the Navy in 1966, and was assigned to the Aircraft Carrier,
USS Wasp. He attained the rank of E-5, Aviation Boatswain
Mate: Fuels. He was discharged in 1969. He married the
former Judy Ladley later that year.
He joined the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union in 1970 and
went to work for Sieb Plumbing and Heating as a Journeyman
plumber, here in Monroe, where he was employed for 12 years.
In 1982, John and Judy bought a plumbing business in Long
Beach, California. He sold that business in 1985 and
returned to Monroe that year to work as a Manufacturer's
Sales Representative. In 1987, he went to work for Monroe
Public Schools as their District Plumber, where he is
currently employed.
John and Judy have one daughter, Stacy, and two grandsons,
Nicolas and Carson.
