Notice of Race

RULES: The Race will be governed by the current US Sailing Association Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS), except as modified by this Notice of Race or the 2008 Sailing Instructions.

ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY: The Ladies Race is open to single-hulled, auxiliary sailboats must be registered at an accredited yacht club, present a current PHRF-LE handicap rating, and possess a minimum of $100,000 liability insurance. A copy of the current handicap certificate and insurance (unless on file at MBC for 2008) must accompany entry form with entry fee. A handicap certificate and/or yacht club membership may be waived at the discretion of the Race Chair.

The boat must be helmed by a female at all times, and contain no more than 50% male crew.

REGISTRATION:

·         Open registration will take place at MBC on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

·         Online registrations are accepted at www.monroeboatclub.org until midnight Saturday, August 9, 2008. Payment is required prior to the race start

·         Advance registrations will be accepted postmarked through Tuesday, August 5, 2008 mailed to:

FEES:  The entry fee is $20.00US.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

REGISTRATION:            Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 10:30 – 11:30 am.

RACING:                       One race will be held Sunday, August 10, 2008.

Warning signal for the first class is scheduled at 12:50 pm.

AWARDS:                     Sunday, August 10, 2008

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:  Preliminary Sailing Instructions will be available at the clubhouse and on-line at www.monroeboatclub.org  no later than August 1, 2008. Official sailing instructions will be available at registration.

VENUE:  Races will be sailed in western Lake Erie, starting approximately ½ nautical mile from Bolles Harbor R2 buoy.

SCORING:  The Low Point System of Appendix A of the RRS will apply. 

RADIO COMMUNICATION:  A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile (cell) telephones.

PRIZES:  Award flags will be awarded to the top three finishers of each class. Overall Trophies will be awarded to the top finisher in each division (PHRF/JAM). Presentation will be made Sunday following the race or as soon as possible thereafter as scoring and/or protest(s) permit.
