Purpose:

 This document is to define the qualifications and criteria used to determine the recipients of the Junior Scholarships to attend the Sail Camp at North Cape Yacht Club.

Qualifications:

1. Applicant shall be a Relative of an MBC member in good standing.
2. A relative is defined as either a Son, Daughter, Grandchild, Nephew/Niece, or Stepchild
3. Applicant shall be able to swim.
4. Applicant shall be between 8 and 18 years of age.
5. Applicant has completed the application within the timeframe set forth.

Criteria:

1. If funds permit for a given calendar year, all applicants meeting the qualifications above will receive a scholarship.

2. If the funding available is greater than needed to send all applicants, the fund surplus will be allocated for the next calendar year.

3. If the funding available is less then needed to send all applicants, the selection criteria below will be used.

a)  Any applicants that received a scholarship in the previous year will become ineligible for the current year. If funding is available to send one or more, but not all of the applicants that received a scholarship in the previous year, these applicants only, will be selected via a random and equal opportunity process.

b)  If "a" criteria above does not reduce applicants to a number equal to funding availability, the second previous year will be used, etc… following the process above.

c)  If a sponsor has more then one applicant submitted, the sponsor will need to submit one applicant only.

d)  If "a" and "b" and "c" above does not reduce the applicants to a number equal to funding availability, all applicants will be selected via a random and equal opportunity process.

4.  If an applicant is unable to attend the sail camp after being awarded, the scholarship will be awarded  to the next qualified applicant based on the criteria above. If there is not an available applicant, the    scholarship will be allocated for the next calendar year applicants.
